FEARS about traffic may lead to the refusal of a scheme for a Sunday market in Spennymoor.
Members of Sedgefield council's development control committee will tomorrow be urged to turn down an application to change the use of an industrial estate unit into a venue for sales up to next October.
John Noble of Noble Promotions, Peterlee, wants the change for the indoor fairs at the Rothmans business centre in Green Lane on Sundays up to October 27.
The fairs would operate from 11am to 5pm.
Spennymoor town council has already voiced concerns about public safety, disruption to traffic, litter and foodstuff being scattered on to the main road and that Sunday should be kept as a day of rest. A company operating from the estate has also objected.
Planning officers want to see the scheme refused because they say it would create high levels of on-street parking, hitting highway safety and businesses
