A COMMUNITY youth group is playing its part in brightening up Hartlepool.
Manor West Youth Project has received £500 for bulb planting, new tools and paint for shop-fronts in the town's Brierton Lane.
It has been given the funding by Hartlepool Borough Council's Pride in Your Neighbourhood scheme.
Dozens of daffodil and crocus bulbs have been planted in the Brierton shops area to improve the environment.
Project chairman John Reid said: "Many local children and volunteers took part in the bulb planting, and everyone is looking forward to the spring to see the fruits of their labour.
"An allocation of £500 means an awful lot to an organisation like ours, and we are very grateful to the council for the help we have received."
