PROPOSALS for tackling anti-social behaviour, substance misuse and domestic violence will be discussed at a conference tomorrow.
Ninety delegates from County Durham will attend the event at Durham County Cricket Club's Riverside Ground, in Chester-le-Street.
Among the speakers will be Government Chief Whip and North-West Durham MP Hilary Armstrong, and Alan Brown, crime reduction director for the North-East.
The event, co-ordinated by Durham County Council, will bring together officials from the police, councils, health groups, fire and rescue service, and community and voluntary groups.
Richard Hughes, the council's community safety co-ordinator, said: "The main purpose of the day is to develop new community safety strategies that will shape how services tackle crime, disorder and fear of crime over the next three years.
"The community safety strategies are the main vehicle by which agencies working together will deliver safer neighbourhoods."
Issues to be discussed will include prolific offenders, hate crime, anti-social behaviour, drugs and alcohol misuse and arson.
