A COMPANY director has been banned from management for three years after his business went into liquidation owing thousands of pounds.
Donald Akester, 60, of High Peak, Hunters Hill, Guisborough, was given the ban by the Insolvency Agency after he agreed his conduct at Helmside Limited was unfit.
The business, was placed into compulsory liquidation by Middlesbrough County Court in June last year owing more than £20,000 in VAT.
The company, which is a support service to the nuclear and petrochemical industry, now has an estimated total deficiency of more than £14,000.
The notice issued to Mr Akester prevents him from being a director of a company or being concerned in the promotion, formation or management of any company for three years.
Mr Askester's conduct was highlighted after only £331.95 of a liability of more than £21,000 to HM Customs and Excise was paid.
Also in respect of the Inland Revenue, only £665.92 was paid towards a corporation tax liability of more than £19,000
