A TAXI driver's takings were stolen by three youths who struck him on the head as he worked on his cab.
The attack happened at about 8.15pm on Monday as the 52-year-old was working on the vehicle outside County Cars, in Oxbridge Lane, Stockton.
He was approached from behind by the youths, who hit him and then stole his money bag, which contained a substantial amount of cash.
The youths ran off towards nearby Hind Street.
The taxi driver was left shocked and with a superficial injury that did not require hospital treatment.
The youths were all in their early twenties. One was described as 5ft 6in, slim and wore a dark hooded top, with the hood up, blue jeans and white trainers.
Another was 5ft 3in and wore a cream top, blue jeans and white trainers. There was no description of the third attacker.
