Darlington go in search of their third successive League Two victory when Leyton Orient visit the Williamson Motors Stadium tomorrow.
The match can be billed as a genuine promotion clash after Quakers came from behind to defeat Mansfield Town 2-1 on Tuesday night.
The three points moved them up to seventh spot, while tomorrow's opponents were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Southend United and stand just two points and two places above David Hodgson's side.
But Orient have proved tough to beat all season and have lost only two of their ten away games, so Darlington will need another strong performance.
Their main problem has been finding consistency and it seemed they would struggle to follow up the 2-0 win at Cheltenham Town a fortnight ago when the Stags led at half-time.
Quakers, boosted by the return from injury of ex-Middlesbrough stars Curtis Fleming and Craig Hignett but missing skipper Craig Liddle, fell behind nine minutes before the break when Richie Barker held off Fleming before beating keeper Sam Russell with a low shot.
Defender Matt Clarke, back in the side as a replacement for the suspended Brian Close, was off the field receiving treatment for a head injury when the equaliser arrived on 63 minutes.
Clyde Wijnhard was in the right place to poke the ball home when Alun Armstrong's attempt to convert an Ian Clark cross was blocked.
Mansfield keeper Kevin Pilkington then made good saves from Hignett and Wijnhard, but was helpless when Hignett's low free kick from the edge of the area was deflected into the net for the winner 15 minutes from time.
Quakers have hauled themselves into promotion contention and look a strong side when their best players are all fit, but they must cope without Liddle for at least six weeks as the defender recovers from an operation to cure his stomach problem.
They have come unstuck before when expectations have been raised, so the fans will be hoping they can now string a few results together to stay in the promotion hunt.
