STUDENTS celebrated their school achievements over the past 12 months at a prize-giving ceremony.
Hundreds of people attended the annual event at King James I School, Bishop Auckland, on Tuesday night.
As well as celebrating the outstanding achievements of pupils, this year's event marked the start of the school's 400th anniversary year.
Headteacher Steve Rodchester said: "This year's prize-giving evening was also a special occasion for us as it marks the start of what will be a long celebration of 400 years of education at King James.
"I believe that the year 2005 will be our finest year as a school."
