A Darlington student has been selected for two under-18 Durham county football squads.
Andrew James, who is studying for A levels in PE, psychology, history and general studies at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, has won a place in the Durham County Schools' squad, which is made up of boys still in further education.
He is also a member of the Durham County youth team, which is open to all boys in the county.
Andrew is the college team's goalkeeper, a position he has played with the Darlington Spraire Lads since the age of eight.
Mark Scott, PE and sports studies teacher at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, said: "Andy is to be congratulated on his outstanding success.
"The Durham County youth squad is traditionally very strong - last year they won the National Youth Cup - and it is a particular achievement to be selected for this representative team."
Andrew is also a talented golfer and is junior captain of Blackwell Golf Club.
Next year he hopes to go to Sheffield or Northumbria University to read for a degree in sports development and coaching.
