A TOWN mayor said it was lucky no one was killed when a coach crashed into a historic building yesterday.
The back of the Abbotts of Leeming vehicle hit the front entrance of 19th Century Richmond Town Hall at about 8.40am.
The Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Russell Lord, said the accident happened at a busy time. "We are very lucky that nobody was hurt or even killed," he said.
An Abbotts spokesman said last night they were still investigating the cause. "We have checked the vehicle and can't find any faults. We're now just waiting to have a word with the driver."
Despite damage to limestone pillars, the building is open as usual
