VILLAGERS gave the Prince of Wales a warm welcome when he visited their community yesterday.
The prince visited Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, to open a new building at the Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (Utass) and switch on the village's lights.
It was the second time in two years Prince Charles has visited the village, and residents were delighted to welcome him back.
Grace Hall, chairwoman of Utass, said: "It's wonderful he's chosen to come back a second time. That doesn't happen very often.
"He takes a great interest in what we're doing and that makes us very proud."
The prince was helped to switch on the lights by 12-year-old carnival queen Samantha Proffitt.
She said: "I was really honoured to do it. When I was asked to be queen I didn't know I'd get to do this.
"He was really nice and asked me what I had to as carnival queen."
