Coxhoe Athletic emerged winners following a ten-goal thriller with Wolviston in the second round of the Sunderland Shipowners' Cup.
Only one goal was scored in the first 45 minutes, when Coxhoe's Phil Best who headed home at the far post.
Wolviston levelled early in the second period through Dean Moore but within a minute Coxhoe were back as Ralph Petijohn took advantage of poor defending.
It was 2-2 when Andy Steele looked offside, but kept his head and slotted home from an angle.
Once again, Coxhoe went ahead with a free kick by Kevin Bush, Steele made it 3-3 and then conceded a penalty which Gary O'Hare converted.
The game was into stoppage time when Tyson Masters levelled but in extra time Paul Harnett and Dave Hutchinson secured a dramatic 6-4 win for Coxhoe.
Jarrow were another side in scoring mode, defeating Washington Nissan UK 5-2.
Andrew Ward celebrated his debut for Jarrow with a brace and others on target were Mark Rumbles, Mark Leask and Craig Hood (pen). David King and Andrew Land (pen) replied for Nissan.
Despite conceding a third-minute goal to Tony Quinn, Birtley Town reached the third round but were pressed all the way by Annfield Plain.
Calvin Magnus equalised in the ninth minute but there were only 15 minutes left when he converted a penalty, before Tony Thirkell wrapped up the tie with an 89th-minute strike.
Boldon CA won 6-5 on penalties at New Marske after the sides shared in a 1-1 draw following extra time. Craig Rolfe appeared to have won the game for Boldon, but, with only a minute of normal time remaining, Ian Mudd levelled.
An own goal gave Ryhope CW an early advantage at Whitehaven who recovered to take the tie with a 3-1 win. Robert Fowler, Craig Robson and Carl McGrady (pen) struck for the Cumbrians.
The ties between Cleator Moor Celtic and Cleadon SC, Sport Catterick v Darlington RA and Windscale against Stokesley SC were postponed.
Two games were played in the League and Shotton Comrades celebrated their biggest win of the season, defeating depleted Ferryhill Athletic 7-0.
Paul Bond rifled four goals with Ricky Farrell, Michael Watson and Gary Evans completing the scoring.
Harton and Westoe were three goals up through Tony Kent, Kevin Burke and Keith McRichie before bottom-of-the-table Gateshead Reserves claimed a late consolation.
