THE world of virtual reality will be showcased on Teesside tonight.
Digital art including computer animation, a virtual tour of a renovated historical building, advanced computer game design and an animated film, based on the work of local artist Mackenzie Thorpe, feature in an exhibition at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough.
The exhibition, which will be unveiled before an invited audience, has been organised by an economic regeneration group which is based at the university and promotes digital technology initiatives.
The Digital City Fellowships 04 event, being held at the Centre for Enterprise, off Victoria Road, will showcase work created by members of the university's Digital City Fellowship scheme.
Gareth Edwards, Digital City creative director, said: "We held a live technology showcase in April this year to celebrate the achievements of the Digital City Fellows and residencies.
"It was a fantastic showcase that gave people the opportunity to explore digital media and digital technology, an area which is often misunderstood."
He said a book would be launched today to commemorate the event and stand as a tribute to all of the people involved.
Mr Edwards said it represented the work of 18 fellowships and the people who had been involved with their teams, including mentoring and helping them obtain funding.
