MOST people know how it feels to get the munchies after a night out on the town.
But not everyone will go to the same lengths to stave off the hunger pangs as the man who broke into a takeaway shop and made himself a pizza.
Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for the shop owner, police officers were watching his every move on closed-circuit television cameras.
The drama unfolded at the Ariston Pizza and Kebab House, in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, in the early hours of last Thursday.
A man smashed his way into the shop following a night out drinking and spent two hours inside.
He made himself a pepperoni and salami pizza before leaving the shop with a bag full of drinks at about 5.30am.
Shop owner Zahid Majid said: "It was very strange. He smashed the front door and the window and came in.
"He spent two hours in the shop, wrecked the shop and then made himself a pizza and took what he wanted to take, and then left.
"I think it was something like a pepperoni and salami pizza that he made. I think he just wanted a pizza, so he came to the best pizza shop there is."
Inspector Steve Burns, from North Yorkshire Police, confirmed last night that a man had been arrested and charged with burglary in connection with the incident.
