A CHOIR member has raised more than £1,000 for charity through a sponsored hymn sing.
Mary Hugill sang for four hours at Danby Wiske Church, accompanied by her friend, Dorothy Hodgson, on the organ.
Their efforts raised £1,020, which has been donated to the outpatients department at the Friarage Hospital, in North-allerton.
The money will go towards a new ECG machine, which helps to monitor patients.
Sister Christine Wilson, of the outpatients department, said: "We would like to thank Mary for this helping hand and for thinking about us.
"This was a fantastic achievement. Her tuneful singing kept everyone entertained and will benefit future patients visiting the department."
