A FESTIVE memorial to those who have lost a loved one to cancer was unveiled yesterday.
Visitors to the Millburngate Shopping Centre, in Durham City, are being offered the chance to remember loved ones with the return of the Cancer Research Christmas Tree.
Members of Nevilles Cross Friends of Cancer Research UK will be at the tree outside the Safeways store until Sunday, December 19.
Shoppers will be invited to make a minimum donation of £1 and fill in a tag, which will, then be placed on the tree with a bauble in memory of a loved one.
Over the years, the group has raised £150,000 for cancer research at the centre and the tree has become an annual fixture.
Centre director Andy Bradley said: "The charity has always proved extremely popular with shoppers and we are delighted to be able to offer a way of remembering those they have lost whilst helping to raise money for such a deserving cause."
