YOUNGSTERS from a Darlington estate have been recognised for their hard work and commitment at an awards ceremony.
Red Hall Partnership held the event to celebrate the work by local children on the estate as well as their successes in football, dance and other activities.
Families turned out in force at the Railway Institute, North Road, to see 25 young people, aged between five and 13, collect their awards.
Sarah Johnson, the partnership's play development co-ordinator, said: "The evening was a huge success and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
"The young people deserved recognition for all their commitment and determination over the past months, which has been absolutely outstanding, as well as the continued support from their parents."
"The young people have been a real pleasure to work with and I am sure they will go on achieving to an even higher standard in the future."
Winners were:
Most Improved - Dale Bainbridge and James Hurman; Commitment - Jamie-Ann Donald and Chantelle Noble; Most Helpful - Nicole Elgie and Danielle Graham.
Confidence - Emma McCann, Becky Bainbridge and Sasha Gibbs; Effort - Lorna Marriner and Jayne Taylor; Outstanding Effort - Fiona Sampson.
Achievement in Football - Charlie Graham, Jack Scarr and Karl McCann; Most Promising Footballer - Liam Donald; Achievement in Dance - Shannon McCann and Bradley Scarr; Sportsperson of the Year - Sammy McLaughlin and Garry Donald.
Most Promising - Lyndsey Donald, Shona Bainbridge and Ashley McLaughlin; Children's Child of the Year - Bradley Scarr and Nicole Elgie.
