DURHAM's monthly farmers' market will be held twice before Christmas to meet demand from shoppers.
The market, held in the Market Place, has been running for five years, offering regionally-grown produce.
Eileen Wood, operations director of the Durham Markets Company, said: "Because of the demand by customers, we are having the market on the two Thursdays before Christmas and we are planning festive entertainment as well as opening a little earlier so no one is disappointed."
