A Hartlepool firm has won a Government accolade for helping to improve the job prospects of thousands of people.
The Department for Work and Pensions said thousands of unemployed people were receiving extra help to brush up on their maths, English and job search skills thanks to a partnership between Jobcentre Plus and trainer Positive People Development (PPD).
The Hartlepool company provides people with a range of help and support to assist them get the skills that will lead to jobs.
In the past year, more than 4,000 people have been able to take basic numeracy and literacy courses, as well as getting help searching for jobs and preparing CVs.
Steve Davidson, Tees Valley Jobcentre Plus district manager, welcomed the difference that PPD is making to people's lives and said: "It is important to us to provide quality training and work preparation to help people make the change from benefits to work. The team at PPD treat our customers well."
PPD managing director Sylvia Ward said: "As a company, our expertise is in developing and delivering basic skills training and job search support for adults in Tees Valley.
"I'm delighted that our commitment has been recognised and that it makes a real difference to people."
