ANIMAL lovers are being urged to spare a thought this Christmas for some of the less fortunate cats and dogs.
About 20 dogs and more than 30 cats will be spending the festive season at the Blue Cross Centre, at Topcliffe, near Thirsk, this year.
And staff are hoping big-hearted members of the public will help make Christmas special for them by donating a few tasty treats.
"Biscuits, chews and things like that will help ensure they enjoy the Christmas period too," said the centre's Wendy Ellison yesterday.
Gifts can be dropped off at the centre - in Parklands, Station Road.
Alternatively, the centre can be contacted on (01845) 577759.
