DOZENS of people helped bring an original touch to their Christmas decorations at a family fun day with an environmental flavour at the weekend.
Durham County Council's countryside rangers held the event at the Broompark picnic area, near Durham City on Saturday.
Families were able to make Christmas wreaths, bird feeders and boxes, brooms and bug hotels from sustainable materials harvested from county council sites.
The head ranger, Simon Heney, said: "It was a great day.
"And people were able to contribute to the welfare of birds and bugs this winter at the same time."
