A MAN has admitted knocking his grandfather unconscious after a drunken brawl.
Craig Perry, 22, of Mansell Crescent, Peterlee, pleaded guilty at Durham Crown Court to causing grievous bodily harm to Clifford Perry.
The court heard that the older man had tried to intervene after a family dispute escalated into a fight.
Ron Mitchell, prosecuting, said Perry threw one punch which knocked his grandfather to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement.
Alex Burns, for Perry, said the defendant had shown immediate remorse.
The case was adjourned for sentence in the new year.
