YOUNGSTERS have helped create works of art for a 2005 calendar that will be on show in public buildings throughout the region.
The North-East Regional Youth Assembly calendar project was based on the theme of Belonging to My Community.
Jonathan Blackie, regional director of Government Office North-East, launched the calendar in Newcastle.
He said: "We are keen to encourage all sections of society, and that includes young people, to take an interest in their communities."
Young people from 12 areas of the region worked in groups of up to ten to produce the art pieces. Each item was photographed to form the illustration for a month on the calendar.
Each group of young people had the help of a community artist for a day to help produce their work.
