FAMILIES are being warned not to risk their health with poor kitchen hygiene this Christmas.
Environmental health officers at Sunderland City Council have issued guidelines to ensure Christmas dinner does not lead to food poisoning.
A booklet prepared by the authority gives tips on avoiding food contamination, including not preparing food too far in advance, guidance on safely storing food in fridges and advice on cooking for infants or elderly people.
Copies are available on 0191-553 1661.
