A SHOP owner who had stock including "cocaine kits" and cannabis-smoking pipes seized by police has called for the goods to be returned.

Nabeel Maqsood, 26, said he wanted the stock, worth £6,000 to £7,000, returned to his Stockton High Street shop as soon as possible.

Mr Maqsood believes he has been unfairly treated after his store, The Gift Centre, was raided on Tuesday.

He said: "There is another shop just down the street selling exactly the same pipes that I do. Why don't the police raid that shop? Why just mine? It's just pieces of plastic and spoons.

"There is nothing illegal at all. You can buy this stuff all over town. I think I am being victimised and this has ruined my Christmas."

The so-called cocaine kits cost £13 and contain a razor blade, mirror, tube and a metal spoon. Room odorisers, known as poppers, are also sold at the shop.

Trading standards officers said selling the items was not illegal.

Tina Williams, founder of Teesside drugs help service Panic, said she would write to the Government for a change in law.

Cleveland Police confirmed a large number of items had been taken and that Mr Maqsood had been helping with inquiries. He has not been arrested or charged with any offence.
