A TEENAGER who caused years of misery for a businessman has been made the subject of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo).
Mohan Gill and his family, who own a shop in Suffolk Street, Hendon, Sunderland, suffered years of racist abuse and insults, which included taunts, graffiti and criminal damage.
Northumbria Police and Sunderland City Council's Asbo Unit secured the two-year order against a 15-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at Sunderland Youth Court, after he was convicted of a racially motivated public order offence.
He was also given a six-month supervision order.
Mr Gill, who gave evidence, said he and his family had suffered from racist abuse, taunts, jibes and a regular stream of swearing.
Hendon Community Inspector Gordon Makepeace, said: "We will continue to tackle anti-social behaviour together to make people feel safer."
