PEOPLE who attend a Teesside day centre have been helping protect wildlife.
Six users of the Warren Road Day Centre, in Hartlepool, teamed up with the town's Countryside Warden Service to make bird boxes for next year's nesting season.
The group has produced about 15 wooden bird boxes, which will be located at some of the town's local nature reserves. The sites are Hart to Haswell Walkway, Hart Warren Dunes, Summerhill, Greatham Beck and Seaton Dunes and Common.
The group received advice from the Summerhill Bird Club, which will also be helping to position the boxes.
Joe Davies, Hartlepool Borough Council's local nature reserves officer, said: "This has been a great project and we value the support from the Warren Road Day Centre.
"The group has made a range of boxes for birds including robin, stock dove, tawny owl and kestrel. We also received assistance from the centre's woodworking department, who cut the timber to size, at Brougham Enterprise Centre.
"In comparison to some other areas, Hartlepool has fewer trees and these bird boxes should certainly make it easier for birds to find suitable nesting places next year."
