CHILDREN'S author Rikey Austin will be in Durham City next week to sign copies of her latest book.
The Dorset-based bestselling author will be at Bear Bottoms, on Elvet Bridge, between 11am and 3pm on Monday to meet children and sign copies of her books from the series Tales From Alice's Bear Shop.
The author's range of teddies were spotted by manufacturer Russ Berrie, who marketed her bears as a range of toys.
After the overnight success of the toys, Rikey launched the first four books in the series and the BBC is now planning a documentary on her rise to fame.
Meanwhile, Durham City's teddy bear trail competition gets under way today.
Children are invited to find the six little bears hiding in some of the city centre's speciality shops in order to win a prize.
Entry forms are available from Bear Bottoms and Durham City Tourist Information Centre.
The competition's closing date is noon tomorrow.
