Two police officers were injured this morning when their car crashed into a church wall in Durham City.
The officers suffered slight injuries when their marked police car smashed into the wall of St Patrick's RC Church, in Meadowfield, shortly after midnight.
The officers were on their way to a report of a possible house fire when they swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle on the A690. Both the wall and car suffered extensive damage and the officers were taken to the city's University Hospital of North Durham, but were not detained.
The road was closed for about an hour after the accident.
