Shoppers have overwhelmed organisers of a shoebox appeal with their generosity.
A total of 164 boxes, packed with Christmas gifts for children in troubled countries around the world, have been handed in at Durham City's Millburngate Shopping Centre over the past few weeks.
Every year, the centre takes part in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal, organised by the charity Samaritan's Purse.
Centre director Andy Bradley said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to all our shoppers for such a fantastic response the appeal."
