SOLDIERS from the Territorial Army came to the aid of a therapy centre and raised hundreds of pounds during a gruelling race.
Last month, two teams from the 34 Signals Regiment completed a seven-mile trek - the sixth annual Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre Road Race.
Sergeant Major Paul McGarry not only supplied ten race marshals but also the willing teams to raise money for the charity.
Team one, led by RSM McGarry together with Arthur Buchan and Rob Land, raced around the course carrying 60lb in weight on their backs.
Starting 20 minutes before the main race, they completed the course in 1 hour 17 minutes.
Team two, Mick Proud, Andy Tait and Gary Cassidy, joined the main race.
The soldiers raised £600 and RSM McGarry handed over the cheque yesterday.
The centre's treasurer and MS sufferer, Jean Johnson, was at the presentation at the MS Therapy Centre, South Bank, Middlesbrough.
