A businessman hoping to open an extreme sports centre is holding talks with councillors about the plan.
Jonathan Lovatt, of Enterprise West, which runs the Mungle Jungle Children's Entertainment Centre, in Redcar, east Cleveland, believes the town could have the leisure development as part of plans for a multi-million pound housing and sports project.
The Coatham Enclosure will include homes, a swimming pool and leisure centre.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is backing the development and will sell land to Persimmon Homes for the construction of the houses close to the seafront.
Mr Lovatt said: "The centre would be used by people from across the whole country, bringing significant financial rewards for the local community as well as raising the image of Redcar."
Councillor Vera Moody said: "We think the Extreme Sports Centre can be a fantastic component within the overall scheme and we are delighted that Jonathan is so enthusiastic."
