DANCE school youngsters are taking a starring role in a popular pantomime, singing and laughing their way through a medley of songs.
The Georgian Theatre Royal, in Richmond, is host to Cinderella. Director George Critchley's production opened last night with star performances by youngsters from Stockton's Karen Heritage Dance School. There will be two shows a day until December 31.
In true traditional pantomime style, Cinderella, played by Helen Power, will be joined on stage by Melody Fielding as her Fairy Godmother, Ben Watson as Buttons, Arnie Breen as Anastasia and Terry Ashe as Grizabelle.
Actress Ms Power said she had been looking forward to performing in the unusually small theatre.
"Pantomime gives you the chance to engage with an audience, and the Georgian's intimacy is perfect as you can see every single face," she said.
Mr Critchley, director and producer of Positive Mental Attitude, has been involved in professional theatre for 18 years as an actor and producer.
