FORMER Hartlepool MP Peter Mandelson could make more than £200,000 when he sells his home in the town.
It has been reported that Britain's new European commissioner will put his former constituency house on the market for nearly £300,000.
Mr Mandelson, who twice resigned from the Cabinet before making his frontline comeback in Brussels earlier this year, bought the semi-detached house for £69,000 in 1990 when he became MP.
If he completes the sale for about £300,000, Mr Mandelson would bring his total estimated income from property deals to nearly £1m.
When Mr Mandelson left for Brussels, the former MP said it would be a big wrench to leave his constituents.
He said he would return to Hartlepool each year to promote debate on the EU.
Dowen Estate Agent, of Hartlepool, said it had been asked to value Mr Mandelson's home.
A spokesman for Mr Mandelson said: "The house is not on the market, but will be in due course. The asking price, if and when it goes on the market, will be a bit less than £300,000."
His most recent purchase, earlier this year, was an £850,000 penthouse in London.
