Spennymoor manager Graeme Clark was delighted with his side's commitment after a 3-2 Presidents Cup win at Shepshed Dynamo, with Moors struggling to field a fit starting XI on Saturday.
Moors were hit by injuries before the game, and Clark said: "The players in the team gave everything. Tommy Raw, for example, picked up an injury early on and kept playing.
"The players showed plenty of character. To go so far with just eleven players and win says a lot for them."
After a goal-less first half, Moors went behind to a penalty, but they levelled when Stuart Niven fired home a Danny Brunskill pass.
Brunskill put them in the lead with a right foot shot after the keeper blocked his first effort, but Shepshed levelled from a corner.
However, Keith Graydon set up Brunskill for the winner with a left foot shot into the top corner of the net.
Bishop Auckland's tie at Kendal was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, and the league has ordered the two clubs to try again tomorrow night.
Manager Brian Honour said: "Hopefully, our players will be able to get time off work at such short notice."
Blyth beat Gresley 2-1 with goals from Scott Bell and Graham Fenton.
Gateshead lost 2-1 at home to Bamber Bridge in the same competition, Mark Atkinson putting them in the lead. Afterwards Gateshead manager Allan Bell revealed he is threatening to resign after comments made by his brother last week.
Whitby are into the last eight of the league cup with a 2-1 home win over Lincoln United, David Pounder and Neil Bishop scoring for them in the last twenty minutes.
