HE'S certainly not aware of it yet, but Leo William Manuel could be a star of the 2012 Olympic Games.
His birth at Darlington Memorial Hospital yesterday qualifies him for a possible role in the opening or closing ceremonies of the games - if London is successful in its Olympic bid.
Every child born on December 20 will get the chance to play a part in the sporting spectacular if London wins the right to host the event.
Yesterday was chosen as "2012 Day" because it was the twentieth day of the twelfth month.
London is competing against Paris, Madrid, New York and Moscow to host the games.
The winner will be be announced on July 6, next year.
Leo's father, Richard, of Crook, County Durham, said: "We're hoping he'll be a sporty type now."
Parents can register children by writing to London 2012, The Pink Centre, 2a Tinworth Street, London, SE11 5EJ.
