A SCHOOL has been awarded £25,000 to light up its new £3m assembly hall.
Carmel Technology College, in The Headlands, Darlington, has received the grant for the John Caden Hall from the Foundation for Sport and the Arts.
The hall, named after the school's former chairman of governors, Father John Caden, was opened in June by Darlington MP Alan Milburn.
It is used mainly for school activities but can also be hired by the public or community.
