florists Margaret and Robert Legge had their grandchildren to thank for winning Bishop Auckland's best-dressed window title for their shop.
Rachel Legge, aged ten, and her five-year-old brother Dan used their artistic talents to decorate Flower World, in Bondgate, with Christmas kings and angels.
The youngsters, who are both at school in Cockton Hill, were helped by Jane Cockburn, a member of staff at Woodham Burn Junior School, Newton Aycliffe.
Doug Hill, youth development worker at the Four Clocks centre, who was one of the competition's four judges, presented Mrs Legge with the competition shield.
Town centre manager Derek Toon said: "The entries were all of a very high standard. I am very pleased that some shops got young people involved in their entries."
Second-prize winners Asda enlisted members of the XL Club at King James I Community College to help with their display.
Joint third winners were the Decor Centre and Footprint.
