South Moor: THE annual meeting took place on December 9, at Park Road Methodistschool room.
The president gave a warm welcome to all, not forgetting sick members and also to the WI advisor, Audrey Dinning and friend. Two humorous poems were read by Joyce Wright.
The assistant secretary read the minutes and correspondence and the secretary's report. The treasurer presented a yearly report. The president thanked the committee and members for their support during the year. Audrey held the ballot for president. Joyce Wright and the committee were reelected. Audrey gave a talk on how she became a WI member. She was thanked by Joyce Wright.
Raffles were won by Joyce Brinn, Marion GreenandJune George. The competition, a decorated snowball, judged by the speaker, was won by Vera Soulsby, 2nd June George, 3rd Joyce Wright.
Gift vouchers were presented by the president for the most competition points of the year, with Vera Soulsby in first place and June George, second, and third, Joyce Wright.
The meeting ended with a supper provided by the members.
MEMBERS and guests from Satley WI. were welcomed by the president Ann Carr. Business was kept to a minimum.
Membersand guests enjoyed a faith supper and were joined by Lanchester Male Voice Choir, who entertained with carols. This was followed by a raffle and games. Satley WI enjoyed the evening and thanked members for the invitation. The meeting ended with good wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all. The next meeting will be on January 10.
Consett Afternoon
LINDA Richardson opened the meeting and Marian Tucker read the minutes. Arrangements were finalised for the Christmas lunch. A verse was read by Joan Dance.
The speaker, Ann Sinclair, gave a talk on her life in the church. The vote of thanks was given by Mary Watson.
The competition, a bookmark, was won by Maria Mahon, Margaret Anderson and Maureen Ledger. Raffle prizes went to Mary Moffat and Hazel Claire.
