AN appeal has been launched to raise £40,000 for two sculptures in a North-East town.
Craig Knowles, a member of the Strarta, a group of North-East sculptors, was selected by Scarborough Civic Society to create the works of art, which will feature a diving belle in Victorian bathing dress on the harbourside, and a bathing belle.
They will be positioned outside the Brunswick Centre, in Westborough.
Brian O'Flynn, chairman of the society, said: "The figures will be traditional in design and represent Scarborough's beauty."
He said plaques would be put up at each sculpture, listing the donors.
