A NORTH-EAST landmark has been illuminated for the second successive Christmas.
The spire of Byker Parish Church, in Newcastle, can now be seen from the city's Quayside.
Parishioners were able to deck the church out with lights again thanks to a grant from Newcastle City Council.
Newcastle's Lord Mayor George Douglas switched on the lights at a ceremony.
He said: "It is my pleasure to continue this festive tradition, which will be enjoyed by the people of Byker and the whole of Newcastle."
As well as being a place of worship, St Michael's Church is used by community and voluntary groups throughout the year.
