A NEW nursing team has been appointed at one of Darlington's GP surgeries to boost health care among its 12,000 patients.
The Clifton Court nurses will be getting to grips with a variety of ailments daily from 8am to 6pm.
Caseloads will include chronic disease management of long-term illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
They will also be involved with nurse triage, smoking cessation, family planning, travel vaccinations, cervical screening, dressings and minor operations.
The team comprises nurse practitioner Sheila Jestin, nursing assistant Ranjit Toor, and practice nurses Susan Hardy, Sue Burnside and Norma Rowley.
Mrs Rowley said: "The doctors are keen for us to do more chronic disease management to ensure appointments are always available."
