COUNCILLORS are to consider taking formal action after Croft Circuit admitted a breach of agreed noise levels.
The operators of the motor racing track admitted a breach occurred on April 10, prompting complaints from residents, who also alleged flouting of noise limits last summer.
Richmondshire District Council environment and planning committee discusses the issue on January 5, when members are asked to decide whether formal action should be taken, or a warning issued to the circuit operators.
The committee will also examine what to do when wind speed interferes with sound monitoring equipment.
A planning, legal and environmental report by council officers sets out three options for when wind speed exceeds eight metres per second, at which point noise readings are invalidated.
It is recommended that assessments are made based on the period of highest noise readings unaffected by wind.
