AN auction held last month has raised £2,400 for a project that helps adults with learning difficulties.
Sharon and Geoff Cutting, landlords of the Dun Cow pub, in Durham City, staged the auction in aid of the Durham Centre Attenders Committee and presented the money to committee chairman Simon Laing this week.
An auction is held at the pub every year with money raised for various local good causes.
Sharon and Geoff, who are in their first year in charge of the pub, chose to raise funds for the centre, a day centre for adults with a learning disability, because it is attended by their nephew, Lee.
Local businesses offered items to be auctioned, including a mountain bike, stereo and double-glazed door, while others donated cash prizes for the pub quiz.
Sharon Cutting said she was overwhelmed by the response to the auction.
