AN exhibition on the history of tattooing will be staged in the North next year.
The display will be staged at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Exhibitions officer Dr David Thomas said the exhibition, developed by the National Maritime Museum, was particularly relevant to Cook because it was during his voyages to the South Seas that tattooing, which became popular with sailors, was brought to Europe.
It will be staged from March to October at the museum, the harbourside home where Cook lived and studied as a youth.
North Yorkshire County Council donated £500 towards the exhibition.
