POLICE have named a man found dead at a house in a moorland village in the region.
A spokesman for the North Yorkshire Police said Niall Webster 48, a van driver of Park View, Glaisdale, near Whitby, was found dead at his home by a police officer and had a single pistol wound to his head.
There were no suspicious circumstances and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The Deputy North Yorkshire East Coroner, John Broadbridge, has been informed and is to open an inquest this week.
Mr Webster leaves a partner and a daughter.
