SKI club members have switched to solar power to warm up their days on the slopes.
The Weardale Ski Club, which is based high in the North Pennines at Swinhopeburn, two miles south of Westgate, is a long way from the nearest mains electricity supply and has relied on a diesel generator for heat and light.
Government grants and other funding helped the club install solar panels, which collect energy from the sun's rays and store it for future use.
The club was helped by Wear Valley District Council's environment officer Ian Bloomfield and wind and solar specialist Mike Seeley, of WindSund, in Muggleswick, near Edmundbyers.
