Spennymoor manager Graeme Clark reckons that this afternoon's home game with Workington will show how much the team has progressed since the start of the season.
Workington come to the Brewery Field on top of the table, but they will be up against a team that has lost just once in the league in two months.
Clark said: "This is the measure for us, because Workington are the only team that has routed us this season when they beat us 5-0.
"This is the gauge for us, but we're more than capable of winning the game.
"The spirit and the camaraderie is very good, and the players are coming together very well as a squad. We will see how far we've come."
Clark expects to choose from a full squad, except for midfielder Andy Brown.
Bishop Auckland, meanwhile, need to avoid defeat at Ossett Town. They will give new signing Kraig Wilkinson, once of Tow Law and Chester-le-Street, his debut, while midfielder Michael Coghlan and defender Chris Mason have signed on another month's loan from Darlington.
Manager Brian Honour said: "After a run of very difficult games, we need to start picking up points again. The season starts now - the second half of the season needs to be distinctly better than the first."
Midfielder Brian Ross and striker Chris I'Anson will both have fitness test.
Elsewhere, Gateshead host Blyth Spartans in a derby match at the International Stadium, while Whitby travel down the coast to face Bridlington Town.
