A POOR Ofsted report for a Teesside school is to be discussed at a council meeting.
The school inspector's report said Jesmond Road Primary School in Hartlepool had serious weaknesses.
It will be considered by Councillor Cath Hill, cabinet member for children's services, and other councillors at a meeting next month.
The report said that the standard of education was acceptable but that English, maths and science are well below the average, that teachers' expectations are too low and that governors and other school leaders do not concentrate enough on raising achievement.
The school and Hartlepool LEA must draw up an action plan within the next 40 days and Coun Hill will be kept informed.
The LEA has statutory powers to intervene at the school if standards do not improve and can suspend the right for the school to operate its own budget. Council officers have recommended that a decision on whether to suspend the budget be deferred. However, they recommend additional school governors are appointed.
The report will be discussed at Hartlepool Civic Centre next Tuesday.
