MORE vehicles have been brought in to clear snow and ice from North Yorkshire roads.
Ten new gritters and snow ploughs have been bought, which brings the number of vehicles to more than 100.
North Yorkshire County Council said it had the largest fleet of road clearing vehicles in the country.
The county council can also call on 150 farmers to help with snow ploughing in extreme conditions.
The investment in vehicles has been made with the county council's contractors, Raynesway Construction Southern.
David Bowe, assistant director of environmental services at the council, said: "The winter maintenance service in the county is second to none.
