KIND-HEARTED children shelved plans to exchange Christmas cards so they can present goats and chickens to a village in Sudan.
Now the idea, from the Oxfam Unwrapped campaign, has snowballed so much, that the school is hoping to provide enough cash for three goats.
Headteacher Brenda Urwin said: "The pupils recognised that there are children more in need than we are and wished to help for Christmas.
"This way, the villagers can enjoy sustainable support all year."
Mrs Urwin said: "This was an idea instead of passing around Christmas cards. It has taken off brilliantly and the kids are really enthusiastic.
"A collection of £25 will buy a goat and the first target was just one.
"Now the children have collected £102 so we can buy three goats and 24 chickens."
